Drop Out & Reactive Effects – Fusing for Beginners and Hobby Glass Artists
Want to take your glass art to the next level?
In this course, you’ll discover the exciting Drop-Out technique that lets you create elegant vases, cups, and bowls – shapes usually only achievable through glassblowing.
We’ll guide you step by step:
-
preparing the blank for deep vessels
-
performing the Drop-Out firing
-
hand-removing the “collar”
-
grinding the base and rim for a professional finish
A highlight of the class is exploring reactive colour effects.
When certain glass colours and metals interact, they create surprising chemical reactions that lead to lively patterns and vibrant colour shifts. You’ll learn which materials work best and how to bring out these unique effects – no chemistry knowledge needed, just curiosity and creativity!
Your projects:
-
Three one-of-a-kind vessels crafted by you
-
Plus sample tiles for experimenting and learning
